My work emerges from the Hudson Valley landscape, particularly the Hudson River and its surrounding wildlife. I am drawn to areas that feel unmanicured and in flux, considering the ecological and cultural histories embedded in the landscape. My process involves bringing the experience of being in nature back to the studio through memory and sketches, where reinterpreting specific locations leads to formal discoveries in mark making and color. Through painting, familiar landscapes are reimagined, reflecting on impermanence, time, and shifting perception.
